21ea Program Details < A Golden Vision - The Growth of Southern California
A Golden Vision: The Growth of Southern California features 6 key components:

  • It is FREE for local schools.
  • A person in Victorian costume will visit your classroom and bring history to life.
  • Student artwork created during the program will be put on display in the museum for all to enjoy.
  • Students will engage in living history activities during their visit to the museum.
  • The specialized curriculum integrates art, history, math and social studies to present a unique look at the development of the Los Angeles area.
  • This website provides additional learning resources to keep students engaged even after they finish the program.
Beyond these six components, while students are at the museum they will view a video featuring "Mamie Perry" one of the original residents of the Mt. Pleasant Home and go on a guided tour of our eight historic structures. With our park like grounds, students also have plenty of room to play and enjoy our garden. The museum is light rail accessible and some bus funding assistance is available. Please download our informational materials or feel free to contact the Education Department with any further questions at (323) 225-2700 ext. 224.
